Box Office?

The all time box office looks at how much money a movie makes. But do they take in account the ticket price changes from say 1977 to 2007?

For more accuracy, shouldn't they count the number of tickets?
and could I find this info somewhere?

Answer :
On the list of all-time box office moneymakers, ticket price inflation and number of tickets sold are, in fact, taken into condsideration. By this tactic, "Titanic" (widely considered the biggest moneymaker) falls pretty substanially. When inflation and number of tickets sold are taken into account, I believe "Gone With the Wind" comes out on top.

Answer :
One site that has movie grosses adjusted for ticket price inflation - is www.boxofficemojo.com - Gone with the wind is the all-time inflation adjusted leader.

Answer :
I'm sure they look at base years for some info - but I'm not sure if they use the base year for their earnings report each week. Good question.

Answer :
No they don't take in account the ticket price. But Titanic tops the all time box office (1.8 Billion)

Do DVD and Blu-Ray sales count toward how much money a movie has made or is it just box office sales?

For example, The Dark Knight has made just over $1 billion. Does that include just the domestic+international box office money from tickets or DVD and Blu-Ray sales as well?

Answer :
Usually just box office. Top DVD/Blu-Ray sellers might get press on their numbers but most movie numbers are box office

Answer :
Hello Capt. Kirk,

The answer to your question is really yes and no.
To give you more information, I will use the example of "The Dark Knight" that you used.

The Dark Knight did make over $1 billion as many news outlets reported. This figure represents worldwide box office sales, and does not include DVD and Blu-Ray sales.

Of course a how much a movie make is very much influenced by how much money a movie makes outside of the box office. Since a movie make money from Movie Rentals, Movie Purchases (DVD's), toys (The Joker/Batman action figure), and many other things as well.

For example, of the $1 billion The Dark Knight grossed at the box office over $530 million of it was from North America, the rest was international. When the movie was released to DVD and Bluray it made over $250 million from sales of the DVD's.

I hope this answers you question(s). It's basically a answer in a nutshell, since there is even more to it.

Answer :
That counts as everything. But when you see Star Trek's #'s that is just ticket sales. Because, well, its not on dvd yet.

No just how much money they make while its in movie theaters.

yes all the income earned is added and calculated

Is it better to buy tickets online or at the box office?

i want to go to a jonas brothers concert and my presales already started. so i was thinking of going to the box office the day of the public sale. is that a good idea? am i able to get good seats(preferably floor seats) at the box office. any information/advice on ticket buying is appreciated.

no hate on jb please. no one cares if you dislike them.

Answer :
Well online you can see the seats and everything and be more exact on where you want to sit. But in person you are guaranteed to have them at the time of the show, online you risk losing them in the mail.

Answer :
box office.
if u buy tickets online, they might be fake.
so just to be sure, i would buy them in person:)
hope i could help!
